Department of Psychology

About the department:

The Department of Psychology was established in the year 2014. The aim of the department is to acquire a broad understanding of the major areas of psychology, including biological, cognitive, social, developmental, and personality psychology. Our Department helps the students to explore the skills of the students in various academic programmes like Seminars, Conference, Workshop and Internship. The department registered good academic records in university examinations.

Programme Outcomes (PO)

  • PO-1 : Better understanding of the Social Science and Natural Science concepts in the functioning of the human mind, body and behavior
  • PO-2 : To understand the process of human development and change from a biological, psychosocial, cultural and environmental perspective.
  • PO-3 : Make use of learning, motivation and personality theories in daily practice.
  • PO-4 : To know the theories, major concepts and mechanisms, this explains human thoughts and behavior.
  • PO-5 : Identify and think on the various psychological and psychopathological symptoms and problems.
  • PO-6 : Introduction to counseling process and techniques.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSO)

  • PSO-1 : The UG course program attempts to lay down the important foundations of psychology as a scientific discipline. It encourages students to develop a scientific bent of mind while quantifying any kind of observation in their experience
  • PSO-2 : The course ranges from basic neurobiology of cognition to applied fields of psychology.
  • PSO-3 : Abnormal psychology is the branch of psychology that prepares students to deal with psychopathology of behaviors.
  • PSO-4 : The course gives due importance to research orientation for students to conduct independent research programs in future.
  • PSO-5 : Students will learn the basics of counseling, stress management, emotional management and coping that will be ultimately beneficial for them in their personal and professional lives.
  • PSO-6 : Training in statistical computations and techniques are given equal weightage to make students confident in handling statistics for future
